Alright this has been something I have been itching to do for quite a while at this point. This is NOT a callout doc; it is a simple (if somewhat pointed) criticism.
I advise you NOT to waste your time with the "Different History" wiki. AltHistory is better for general althist; AudreyWorks and DreamFiction are better for media AUs.
The place has went to shit ever since I was forced out over some dumbass logocommunity drama that no one outside of the AVID hugbox gave two shits about, and shortly afterward Sylveon and Justthere (the people behind Onochverse and Robinverse) left to focus on DreamFiction stuff they were involved in. Since then it has just been Johnsonverse which is absolute garbage and I AM NOT EXAGGERATING.
Basically Johnsonverse is an affront to the Sherman Antitrust Act. There is this megacorporation controlled by a family of nepobabies which buys everything in existence including but not limited to Toho, Evangelion, Sega, Hasbro, Takara, Compile Heart, Star Wars, TV Tropes, Chuck E Cheese, Showbiz Pizza, M&M-Mars, Cartoon Network, NASCAR, Formula One, 20th Century Fox, McDonald's, Coca-Cola, every single game show on US telly (Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right), and THE ENTIRETY OF FUCKING DISNEY. And not to mention they have a fucking PRIVATE MILITARY. Also Japan gets anschlussed into the United States after WWII which is imperialistic AF (this is why I prefer Allied Japan/Axis China for my own TLs).
Tim and Chloe Johnson are the most poorly written characters in anything I have seen so far. They are fucking Mary Sues and blatant self-inserts for the timeline's writers (Andy "BNSF" Sammonds, Trevor Tuominen, and Stephen Fisher), also sharing the exact same neoliberal/shitlib opinions as the writers themselves.
And Sheldon Johnson Jr, Tim and Chloe's dad aka the POTUS in this timeline, is just all the worst parts of Biden and both Trump terms, with NONE OF THE FUCKING GOOD PARTS. He is as shitlibby as his failson and faildaughter are, not to mention he is a Gary Stu in and of himself (FLIPPING TEXAS BLUE TWICE FFS; I have never seen that in any other contemporary alt-USA TL, even on r/imaginaryelections).
The Johnson family as a whole has this hateboner for planes, because the writers of the timelines are MASSIVE railfans and think that the airline industry killed the US railroads. When in reality what REALLY killed US railroads was the fucking US ROUTE AND INTERSTATE SYSTEM (I know this being both a railfan and a roadgeek by heart). And the writers also have this cruiseship fetish, and the Titanic gets saved from the fucking iceberg in Johnsonverse by a Continental Cruise Lines (the Mary Sue shipping company of Johnson Inds) ship. Which is HELLA disrespectful to the victims of the Titanic disaster. IMO, the Titanic's sinking was a "canon event", and it is always left alone in all of the timelines I produce, even ones where 9/11 is avoided by other butterflies.
Continental Rail is a near monopoly, owning literally all the railways in Japan and the UK, even being allowed to PRIVATIZE AND DISMANTLE AMTRAK AND POTENTIALLY ALSO VIARAIL AS WELL. As a railfan myself, especially one with knowledge of the Sherman Antitrust Act, this makes me sick.
Let's get to Johnsonverse's fictional media. Like any good media AU, there is a lot of it. The difference, is that other media AUs (El Kadsre, Argosyverse, whatever the fuck BlooJ's GAI AU calls itself now, hell EVEN THE APPLEBERRIES22 SLOP FOUND ON DA AND FUTUREIDEAS WIKI) are at least SOMEWHAT competently put together. This stuff is not.
Monster World is LITERALLY just BNSF's failed Evangelion/Godzilla/Cthulhu crossover fanfic from FFN, but as a TV show which everyone loved because the Johnsons are a Mary-Sue-ass nepobaby family and this entire fucking timeline is bent in their favour.
Detective Jenny is also a fucking abomination. It is essentially a massive ripoff of Thunderbirds but the characters are literal fucking lolis (they can't physically age past teen years, in all likelihood because BNSF likes 'em young; at one point there was canonically OFFICIALLY JOHNSON INDS LICENSED DETECTIVE JENNY LOLICON R34, which the Wikia staff actually had to step in to remove). And the art style made by Trevor, makes me wanna vomit. Greeny Phatom has a better, cuter, and less uncanny-valley artstyle than Detective Jenny, I'm sorry but it's the truth. Not to mention this show has a fucking PRESCHOOL SPINOFF known as Marlene, which has a plot lifted directly from Thunderbirds because BNSF, Trevor, and Stephen are unoriginal hacks.
Chcoodile and Friends are essentially BNSF and Trevor's Looney Tunes OCs. They have zero personality besides being mascots for Johnson Inds and its many subsidiaries.
Yoke is a massive fucking stereotype festival of Japanese culture, made by some fuck with a WASP sounding name. Basically it's Primos but Japan instead of Mexico. And they copied the Yoke chaarcter herself wholesale from Koko, an anthro cabbit character from one of the fictional TV shows within my own Argosyverse. (I made the mistake of letting Trevor know about Argosyverse a month before he backstabbed me.) The only real difference, is that Yoke is a human and Koko is a furry. Also the character designs are AIslop.
Miki and Chieko vs The World is Yoke part deux, complete with AIslop character design. I have nothing to say about this one.
Piper and Sparky is Yoke but it stereotypes Canada instead of Japan. Enough said.
The Johnson Aligned Universe is just random anime BNSF and Trevor like, ruined by Westernizing them to hell and back. There is this in-name-only Vocaloid show which features NOTHING that the Vocaloid franchise is known for, instead being a Godzilla spinoff with MMD models.
There is also an OFFICIAL CROSSOVER BETWEEN THE ROCK-AFIRE EXPLOSION AND K-ON in this timeline. Which is stupid as the two franchises make zero sense together. I don't have a Buzz on Maggie/Puyo Puyo crossover in Argosyverse, for the love of god.
And now back to other shit.
I actually used to be a high ranking member of this wiki. Then in January 2024 I found myself on the wrong side of some logo community drama. Instead of staying neutral as any sane person would do and allowing both sides to make their points, Trevor blindly believed one side, and stabbed me in the back. Since then, the entire wiki has gone downhill.
The only good part of this whole mess is Phil Stacker. He is meant to be the villain of this whole timeline, taking over the megaconglomerate from the Designated Hero Johnsons in the early 80s and kicking their asses out. But because the Johnsons are unlikeable Mary Sues, I actually find Stacker to be a good person. Shame the "Stacker Era" only lasted 10 years in the official canon (the Johnsons weaseled their way back in, because as I said earlier, the whole ass timeline is bent in their favour).
In conclusion, Johnsonverse is a waste of time and effort. I actually regret being involved with the timeline back in the day. And the rest of DHW is an afterthought compared to Johnsonverse so who cares?
